My friend Cate and I were out to dinner the other night and got to chatting about the things that we prefer to make at home instead of buying at the store. Our lists included the usual suspects. Jam. Granola. Hummus. It was only when I threw in “toaster pastries” did Cate laugh in my face. Lovingly of course.
What? Toaster pastries aren’t on everyone’s list? Maybe it’s just me. I’d definitely rather buy my chicken stock and use the extra time for homemade toaster pastries. But that’s another blog post all together.
This week I want to tell you about something else you can make at home instead buying it at the store. Pocky! It’s the one food on a stick (more like food as a stick) that I can get behind. (I never warmed to cake pops.) My preferred Pocky scenario includes either a trip to the movies or a good book and my cozy couch. The thing is, they aren’t always easy find. Thank goodness a homemade version is simple to make.
So when you’re done making the granola and the hummus this week, and you’d like to try something else, hop over to Food52 for the recipe.
